With summer nearly here, it’s time to put away the winter make up and out with the lighter, brighter summer makeup. I did a quick run around the internet to see what the latest top summer beauty trends are and they were not what I expected.
The looks we see on the runway are a little ‘out there’ to say the least but they do give us a good idea of the latest trends. We can alter them to suit our individual style and pocket.
Glamour.co.za had this to say :
“What a season for beauty! From the full Pantone array of hair colours on the catwalks to the emerald eye makeup at Versace and the red lips dotting their way through Paris Fashion Week, there were plenty of looks from which to take your beauty cues come next season”.
Natural Looking Skin
This season glowing, healthy skin was definitely top on the runway. Both Glamour and Harpers Bazaar commented on the healthy, ‘sun-kissed’ skin with a natural radiance.
To keep your skin at it’s best, try budget friendly Avon True Nutraeffects Anti-ageing Facial Oil (R149) and Ageless 35+ Revitalising Night, Day and Eye Creams (all 3 for R219.00).
Justine also has a great Anti-ageing product, A-Firm Platinum, which comes in a serum (R359), night cream and day cream (R299 each).
For that natural radiance, Avon has a natural finish foundation aptly called Fresh Face (R64.90).
Another good choice is Justine’s BB Cream for light moisturising coverage (R72).
Red Lips the French Way
Bold red lips are back! According to Glamour.co.za “Paris Fashion Week was the fashion week which interrupted the run of almost exclusively lipstick-free lips, giving us pillar box reds, Venchy and Poiret, coral tones by Lucia Pica at Chanel and rich tomato hues at Koché, by Terry Barber.”
Ok so we can’t all afford Chanel but that doesn’t mean we can’t be on trend. Check out these lipsticks from Avon and Justine for a more affordable option.
Avon Color Trend Satin Finish (2 for R80 or R49.90 each) or matte finish (R49.90)
Try Justine Couture Creme Lipgloss and lipstick (R99 each)
Long and Lustrous Lashes
Long and lustrous lashes are still going strong – no surprise there! If you weren’t blessed with beautiful lashes there are volumising and lengthening mascaras that don’t have to cost a fortune.
Try Avon’s True Ultra Volume mascara which doubles the length of lashes (R79.90) or Avon True Color Supershock Max Volume mascara, which gives 15x more volume (R74.90).
Glitter and Color Eye Liners
This is not a trend I’m mad about but it looks like it’s here to stay, for this season anyway.
Jessica Diner from Vogue.co.uk had this to say “Aside from shimmery shadows, which have definitely been plentiful, the beauty industry has woken up to the calling of the catwalk, and we’re discovering glitter brow gels, metallic lip paints (this is a huge new trend), glitter eye jellies, glitter hairsprays, glitter mascara topcoats… The list goes on.”
Are you brave enough for this bold new trend? If so then try AVON True Color Glimmerstick eyeliner (3 different colours for R108) or the Glimmerstick Brow Definer (R64 or 2 for R95).
What appeals to you? Perhaps a blood red lipstick and long, lustrous lashes for date night. Or perhaps a bit of glitter for a night out on the town. Browse the AVON and Justine brochures for a budget-friendly On-Trend Summer!
